Learn about the
Ontario ACT Association

The Ontario ACT Association (OAA) is a voluntary organization of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams in the province.

The OAA helps identify, develop, and advocate for the collective interests of ACT teams in the Province of Ontario.

What is
ACT?

ACT stands for Assertive Community Treatment. ACT is a team treatment approach designed to provide comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia.

How is ACT used
in the community?

ACT teams provide community-based interventions for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.

ACT teams help keep clients out of hospital, and with their in-house concentration of multidisciplinary services, each team provides smooth, efficient continuity of care and recovery.
